“We’re happy… but now we want to push on!”

Tiago aiming for back-to-back victories against Norwich

Apologies, this video is unvailable.

A performance and a result at the weekend against Preston – but football moves quickly. And it’s onto the next almost immediately as we host Norwich City on Wednesday evening at Madejski Stadium.

Tiago Ilori – whose first Reading goal helped the Royals to the 3-2 win at Deepdale – is hopeful that they can continue getting on the right side of the margins.

“It was great result against Preston,” Ilori said.  “We’re really happy… but now we want to push on and continue with the results.

“It’s the first win of the season, but we’ve been working towards it and we’ve deserved better results than we currently have from previous games.  Saturday’s result proves that hard work does pay off.

“There are still things that we need to improve on, but it’s just one game.

“We scored three goals, but in the end, we had to score three goals in order to win the game… that isn’t ideal!  That’s why we work every day and we work so hard.

“But it’s always nice to score a goal.  It’s been a while since I last scored one, but it was an important goal for the team and it helped us to get the win, so it was great.”

Clement | We can make away win a 'momentum changer'

A win against the Canaries on Wednesday would see the Royals leapfrog their visitors in the Sky Bet Championship standings.

But that won’t be a formality, as Tiago was keen to stress.

“Norwich are a big club and they always have a good team,” he continued.

“They like to play football as well, but being at home on the back of a good result, we’re definitely going to try our best as always.

“We’re ready for the next game. We’ve analysed them and we know what to expect.

“In these six games before the next international break, the objective is going to be to get as many points as possible – but if we can win them all then that’s perfect and will leave us in a strong position.

“We’re going to take things game by game. The next one is Norwich and we’re going to do our best to get three points.”

Tickets for the game are on sale now – and we’re running our Midweek Mates Rates offer once more so that Season Ticket holders can bring friends or family members to the game for a reduced rate!
