Women ready for kick-off in WSL curtain-raiser

Glovers our first opponents as Adams Park prepares for start of league season!

7 September 2018

Yeovil Town Ladies travel to Adams Park on Sunday to take on Kelly Chambers' unbeaten Royals at the start of the FA Women’s Super League campaign.

The Royals won their opening game of the 2018-19 season - captain Kirsty Pearce struck first before Fara Williams registered a hat-trick in a 4-1 Continential Cup win over Durham.

And then Reading FC Women becane the first team to topple a newly-formed Manchester United side, inflicting a 2-0 cup defeat in front of a record crowd for the competition last month.

A number of our international players represented their countries during the recent break in fixtures and they are all back this weekend as league football resumes. And the Royals are clearly ready!

Reading finished fourth in the FA WSL1 last season - behind only Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal in the top tier of women's football in England.

And the restructured FA Women’s Super League will kick-off a historic season this weekend when it becomes fully professional for the first time.
