Ahead of the game | Rocking up to face the Robins

All you need to know before Friday's early kick-off

18 April 2019

The Royals will have a travelling party of 2,000 following them to Ashton Gate on Saturday afternoon, with Lee Johnson's Play-Off hopefuls laying in wait in the West Country.

Bristol City vs Reading
Friday 19th April

Ashton Gate, 12pm kick-off
Sky Bet Championship

A comparatively short punt along the M4 will take Reading to their next destination for a Championship match, with 6th-placed Bristol City hoping to cement their place in the Play-Offs come May 5th.

A run of nine consecutive wins through the festive period and the new year helped elevate the Robins to within a reasonable shout of Premier League football through a place in the top six, but a chasing pack consisting of Middlesbrough and Derby County will be looking to pounce on any mistakes Johnson's side make between now and the end of the season.

They will be especially wary of the Royals, with Reading winning a topsy-turvy reverse fixture 3-2 back in November. A league double over City would be welcome for Reading's survival chances, with José Gomes' side currently four points clear of the drop as it stands.

There was unfortunate news on the injury front this week for the Royals, with John Swift having surgery on his hip that has ruled him out for the remaining matches this season.

Reading's form has picked up significantly in recent weeks, taking 14 points from eight games and climbing out of the Championship's bottom three - but the players all know there is still work to be done to secure safety this season.

While the Royals have lost just three times in their last 14 matches, they know they can take nothing for granted heading into a crucial Easter schedule.

Please note that tickets for this match are now OFF-SALE, and tickets are not being sold at Ashton Gate on the day. Anyone who has ordered their tickets for collection, can do so at the away turnstile at Ashton Gate.

We strongly advise that Reading supporters should not travel to Bristol without a ticket. However, the Royals will be backed by 2,000 visiting fans on the day.
