Battered balls brought back to life at Battersea

Dog-eared balls get a new lease of life

24 April 2019

Reading FC Community Trust helped to put a smile on furry faces by delivering a fresh batch of burst balls to Battersea Old Windsor.

The charitable arm of our club has sports participation as one of its key pillars – meaning that hundreds of footballs get used at sessions across Reading, Berkshire and the Thames Valley area every week of the year.

Eventually, every new ball becomes old – until finally they are no longer fit for purpose for kids to kick around. But they aren’t ready to go to waste; our four-legged friends are a little less discerning and get plenty of joy from them yet.

Like its flagship counterpart in London, Battersea Old Windsor – based just a few junctions along the M4 – has been helping to rehome dogs and cats for over 40 years.

As the rehoming centre relies on donations, our Community Trust’s delivery of balls was the paw-fect present for those dogs still waiting to find a new family. It’s a great way of keeping the dogs active and helping them to de-stress during their transitional period at Battersea.
