José Gomes was keen to praise our younger Royals involved in the squad on Saturday, but highlighting the work of Danny Loader after his spectacular first senior goal at the Riverside.
The 18-year-old turned away from his marker and curled a sublime effort into the top corner that could become a late contender for the club's goal of the season, notching his first goal as a first team player.
But Loader is no stranger to scoring, having netted 15 times in as many appearances for our Under-23 side this season, alongside five goals for England's Under-19s this term.
While he has been steadily building up his first-team minutes this season, Gomes praised the striker for the way he took his goal.
"Fantastic goal - a great goal," the manager beamed. "He turned and had a very good shot, he deserves it. He's tried for a long period of time, he really deserves it.
"He scored a lot of goals for the Under-23s, he works very well during the week. He's improving, he's getting better and better.
"Like Josh Barrett and Michael Olise, they showed that we can count with our young players - they played well. In this moment of the season, we can use these players and let them play.
"It's also a very good sign for us."
