Royals captain Paul McShane was a welcome guest at a bowls fixture with the Reading Association for the Blind, organised through our Former Players’ Association.
The Reading Association for the Blind are the FPA’s nominated charity for the current season, and our skipper – along with former Royals player and manager Mick Gooding – headed down to the indoor bowls facility at Rivermead Leisure Centre.
Mixed teams faced off, including partially-sighted and blind bowls players – many of whom were Reading supporters and regular attendees at Madejski Stadium.
Visual impairment doesn’t stop them from enjoying the games in RG2 – or listening to Mick’s co-commentary on BBC Radio Berkshire – and their ability with a bowling ball made for competitive matches.
