Moore | "It's a really big month"

Defender looks ahead to hectic schedule

5 April 2019

Just seven matches remain for the Royals as they go in search of the points they need in the Sky Bet Championship - six of which coming in the space of the next 21 days, starting at Hull City on Saturday.

It is a run that is likely to define the overall outlook of the campaign as a whole - and Liam Moore is well aware of the importance of the packed schedule ahead.

"It's a really big month, there's no hiding that," Moore said ahead of the game. "We'll go up to Hull and focus on that solely, giving everything to get three points on that day.

"Then we'll be swiftly moving on to the game on Wednesday against Norwich, but it's one game at a time, we'll pick up as many points as possible and assess from there."

It's a more confident outlook from the Royals centre-half that is reflective of the mood in the squad as a whole, with a run of just three defeats in their last 13 games showing Reading's current form.

This streak has seen José Gomes and his side climb out of the bottom three, extending the gap to the relegation places to four points with last weekend's win over Preston North End.

Hull City are up next for Reading this time around, with Nigel Adkins' men still harbouring faint hopes of breaking into the top six come the end of the campaign.

"Credit to Hull, they've done well this season," Moore continued. "They went on a run a little while back, I don't think they managed to sustain the attack they were going on for the Play-Offs, but they've done well.

"They're in that in-between stage where they're not quite out of the Play-Off mix, but they'll be playing freely and trying to enjoy their remaining games. We've got to be ready for that threat.

"It's a big ask for them to get into the Play-Offs but, while it's still an option, they need to keep going. We need to make it difficult and show the will to win, like we have been doing recently.

"We'll go there properly, rest as best we can and wherever it takes us, we'll do it and it's just about what we do on the pitch."
