After getting his first goal in Reading colours in midweek, striker George Pușcaș is looking to kick off the Championship campaign in earnest when we host Cardiff City on Sunday.
It will offer the Romanian his first opportunity to play at Madejski Stadium in front of the home fans.
And while he’s expecting a tough challenge from the recently-relegated side, he is also expecting the Royals to pose plenty of threats to their visitors.
“We need points, and we need to start to win in the Championship,” said Pușcaș. “If we play well, like we did against Wycombe, then the points will come.
“We have to give everything on Sunday. It is an important game for us and our fans. We have to be ready.
“It will be a difficult game for us – and a difficult game for them also. We are at home and our fans will be on our side. I have no doubt that we will be ready and focused at kick-off.”
He also praised the way that his Royals teammates have helped him settle.
He was one of five players to arrive in a three-day stretch at the end of the transfer window, and he is enjoying life so far as a Royal.
“My teammates have been helping me from the first day I arrived here,” he continued.
“That helps because I have to adapt here in England – to the language and football.”
