"I'm so excited because I wanted to come here and I want to prove myself here in England," George Pușcaș beamed as he sat down for his first chat as a Reading player, having signed on a five-year deal from Inter Milan just moments beforehand.

The Romania international joined the Royals from Inter on Wednesday evening, and will train with his new teammates for the first time as he gets set to contribute in the blue and white hoops.

"I'm really excited to come and play for Reading - playing in England has been a big ambition for me. I wanted to come, I like English football, when I was little I always looked at this football.

"It's my first time here, I'm excited and I can't wait to start. It's a great challenge for me, a new challenge and I hope it will be a great time for the fans, for me and for the club, so we will have a great result."

Having plied his trade at Inter and on loan spells around Italy with Palermo, Bari and Benevento, the 23-year-old made the step up to represent the Romania national team last year - scoring four times in eight senior caps to date, alongside 18 goals in 25 caps at U21 level.

The striker revealed that Reading's interest in him started earlier in the window, and says he is excited to get going in blue and white.

"When I heard about Reading again, I was happy because this club wanted me so much. It makes me feel good, to come here and prove myself, to show that I can play in this championship.

"I'm a typical striker, in the centre who likes to stay in the area, to help the team to run, who gives his all for the victory because this is most important for the club, for the fans.

"If we win, I'm happy so it doesn't matter who scores, but as a striker I like to score - I live to score.

"I already know the style of the club, I spoke with the coach - he explained to me the movements here and I'm delighted with what I heard."

With rumoured interest from elsewhere in England for the striker's services, the Romania international revealed what it was that set Reading apart.

"It was the love they gave me to come here and the support - it was there for me," he elaborated. "It will be great football for me, I appreciate the coach (José Gomes) because it was him that pushed himself, to show that I can come here.

"These things made me feel that I have to come here, to a new challenge. It's a great club with history, everybody who comes here will give everything for this club and will give everything to push this team for the top of the league."
