Reading Football Club can announce that midfielder Adrian Popa has agreed to join Romanian top tier side Steaua Bucharest on loan until the end of the season.
The 31-year-old winger arrived in Reading from Steaua Bucharest in January 2017 and has made 9(+8) appearances as a Royal, scoring once in a win over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
The former FC Universitatea Cluj and CS Concordia Chiajna forward has previously spent loan spells away from RG2 at Saudi Arabian side Al-Taawoun and then in Bulgaria with PFC Ludogorets Razgrad.
Now, with his Royals contract due to expire next summer, Adi is set to compete in the Romanian top tier for the duration of the 2019-20 season.
The paperwork remains subject to the normal ratification procedures from the relevant football authorities, but the Bucharest-born wide man could potentially make his second Steaua bow in a Liga I clash with FC Politehnica Iași on Sunday.
He may also be registered in time to take part in the club’s Europa League campaign which continues with a two-legged qualification clash against Portuguese side Vitória Guimarães next week.
Everyone at Reading Football Club would like to wish Adi the very best of luck during his loan spell with Steaua Bucharest.
