We are delighted to share the news that young Reading full-back, Omar Richards has received his first-ever international call-up - getting the nod for the England U21 squad this September.
The 21-year-old Academy graduate has been a staple at left-back in the Reading line-up so far this season, and his good form has been rewarded with the opportunity to pull on the Three Lions for their upcoming European U21 Championship qualifiers.
Aidy Boothroyd's side will get their qualifying campaign underway with a trip to Izmit to take on Turkey on Friday 6th September (6.45pm kick-off), before heading to Hull City's KCOM Stadium to face Kosovo on Monday 9th September (7.45pm kick-off).
Richards made his senior debut for the Royals at the start of the 2017-18 campaign, in an opening-day encounter at QPR. He has since gone on to play 27(+7) times in Reading's first team to date, and he has been rewarded for his efforts with a call-up to the Young Lions.
Several other Reading players will be heading away with their countries over the September international break, details of whom will be announced in due course.
Massive congratulations to Omar on his fantastic achievement, we look forward to following his progress throughout his time away with England.
