Royals Women to face Valencia on pre-season tour

Reading FC Women’s team travel for friendly prior to 2019/20 campaign.

6 August 2019

Our women’s team’s preparations began on Sunday with an impressive 6-1 win against Charlton Athletic at Bisham Abbey. Goals came from Rachel Furness, Natasha Harding and a brace each from Fara Williams and Millie Farrow.

Before the 2019/20 FA Women’s Super League kicks off on September 8th, the team are also heading out to Spain for a pre-season training tour that includes a game against Valencia.

The men’s first team spent a fortnight in Estepona for their own round of summer friendlies in early July and the women’s squad will be warming up for the domestic season in Spain between the 11th and 15th of August, with the game against Valencia on the 14th.

Valencia CF Femenino play in the Primera Iberdrola, the highest level of women’s league football in Spain, finishing 8th last season.

When they return to home shores, the team will continue their pre-season programme with a trip to Tottenham Hotspur FC Women on Wednesday 21st August, followed by an away game at London Bees on 1st September.
