It was one of those games which left everyone involved in Reading feeling good. Three great goals, a clean sheet, and a well earned three points.
George Pușcaș bagged a brace on his home debut, and John Swift – who rounded off the scoring – felt that there were plenty of contenders for the man-of-the-match award, from front to back.
“It was a very good day – a good game to be a part of,” Swift said.
“It was good to get two goals in the first half, so we could go in at half time feeling confident. And it was good to get George Pușcaș on the scoresheet – we need a striker who can score goals like he has. It was a great team performance.
“We were a bit naive against Hull, we tried to play when we were under pressure, but today we adapted really well. Cardiff are a great team, always putting the ball in the box – it’s hard to play against. I think we dealt with it very well, and so it was good to get the three points today.
“It was the little bits on the ball that made the difference; Ovie Ejaria was in the box giving everyone confidence. Every player deserved the man of the match at the end of the game – especially the three centre-backs getting bombarded with long balls, headers, tackles and blocks. It was very good to get a clean sheet.
“We’ve got some tough games coming up, so we hope to recover well and make sure our bodies are ready for the journeys our bodies will be under. It will be a tough run, but hopefully we will get through it.”
