For the first time in 703 days, Jordan Obita will be playing competitive senior football for Reading.
The Academy graduate makes his long-awaited return from a knee injury that has kept him out for almost two years, and he will wear the captain's armband as the Royals take on League Two side, Plymouth Argyle in the Carabao Cup.
There have been changes across the board for Reading, with this being the third lengthy away trip in a week for José Gomes' side.
A young defensive line sees Teddy Howe, Gabriel Osho and Akin Odimayo start alongside Obita in defence - with Odimayo making his senior debut and becoming the 53rd player to graduate from Reading's Academy ranks.
Andy Rinomhota, Danny Loader and Yakou Méïté return to the line-up, as do Michael Olise and Josh Barrett - with Charlie Adam holding the fort in midfield, and Sam Walker getting the nod to start in goal.
In good news for our Academy, an uncapped trio of youth players are among the substitutes and in the senior squad for the very first time. Left-back, Ramarni Medford-Smith, central midfielder, Ethan Coleman and striker, Thierry Nevers are all available from the bench on Tuesday evening.
