Women set for 3 Madejski matches as Conti Cup fixtures finalised

Lewes, Palace and Bristol City all visiting RG2

15 August 2019

Reading FC Women will host three fixtures at Madejski Stadium before Christmas, as Lewes and Crystal Palace each visit in the Continental Cup and Bristol City head here in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.

The Conti Cup draw has handed Kelly Chambers’ side some tough games, with WSL trio Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United all joining them in Group D – as well as Championship sides Lewes and Crystal Palace.

The Royals begin their cup campaign away to Spurs at The Hive on 22nd September, and close away to Chelsea at Kingsmeadow on 11th December. Between those games, they host three fixtures in their group stage: Sussex side Lewes are the first visitors at Madejski Stadium on Sunday 20th October, before West Ham travel to Adams Park in Wycombe on Sunday 3rd November. Then it’s back to RG2 on Thursday 21st November to host Palace.

Amongst that busy cup schedule is a fixture against Bristol City in RG2 – the Vixens, who finished two points below the Royals last season, travel to Reading in league action.

We have enjoyed a fantastic following every time our Women's side have played at Madejski Stadium - and we're looking forward to bringing the action back to Reading.

Reading FC Women have fared well in the Continental Cup in previous years, going all the way to the Semi-Final in 2018 and going out to eventual winners Arsenal. Last season saw the side progress to the Quarter-Finals; that time Chelsea were the ones who progressed to the final four.

A total of 23 teams will compete across four groups, with the top two clubs from each group progressing to the knockout stages.  The final for the 2020 competition is being scheduled for Saturday 29 February 2020, subject to broadcast.
