21-year-old central defender Gabriel Osho has today joined National League high-flyers Yeovil Town on loan until 4th January 2020.
The talented defender who joined the club as an eight-year-old and came right through our Academy ranks to make his first team debut against Middlesbrough at the Madejski almost a year ago, will now look to earn regular first team football with the Glovers this month.
Osho was part of our successful Under-18s squad who reached the FA Youth Cup Quarter-Final in 2015-16 season and, besides often starring in and captaining our Under-23s, the centre-half has also spent loan spells at Maidenhead United and Aldershot Town.
The defender made his senior Royals bow with 90 minutes against Boro in December 2018 and four days later came off the bench to feature in another first team fixture away at Millwall on Boxing Day.
This season, Osho has been a regular name on the teamsheet for Scott Marshall’s Under-23s – scoring three times from the penalty spot so far this season - and he notched another first team appearance with a start against Plymouth Argyle…a 4-2 Carabao Cup victory at Home Park in August.
Gabe joins a Glovers side fighting at the right end of the National League; Darren Sarll’s side are fourth in the league – just three points behind second-placed Bromley with a game in hand up their sleeve.
At Huish Park, Osho joins a squad which includes another former Royals Academy graduate; Lawson D’Ath added his name to our Academy Honours Board with a first team bow against Stevenage in the FA Cup back in January 2012.
Gabe could make his Glovers debut this afternoon when Yeovil host Halifax Town. All at Reading Football Club wish the very best of luck to Gabe during his loan spell in the south-west.
