FULL-TIME | Reading 0-0 Aston Villa

Effort and energy but no goals to show for either side. The points are shared.

Moore and Taylor collide heavily as the Royals attack and play has to be halted before Richards can put into a crowded area.

Kodjia hits a snapshot as the ball drops for him, but he's well off target with his effort. Still no breakthrough. A few added minutes remain.

There'll be EIGHT added minutes at the end of the match for someone to try and grab what would surely be a winning goal. Two lengthy stoppages have prompted that...

Villa make their final change, as McGinn - who was struggling with cramp - comes off for Jedinak.

Tom Carroll in the book for the Villans, having hacked down Swift cynically.

Andy Yiadom joins the attack.

Top-draw save by Emi Martínez!

El Ghazi strafes a ball into the area and Abraham rushes onto it - somehow the stopper gets a palm to it, before Blackett heads out of the danger zone. Brilliant goalkeeping.

Reading string together a nice combination and pull the defence around. Blackett's cross is cleared away and Villa survive the forward foray.

Moore is judged to have made a foul when challenging for the ball, 10 yards outside the area. He gets a whack too and after some treatment has to sit out the Villa free-kick. Hourihane shoots but strikes it low into the wall and Reading clear.

Now Villa make their changes. Adomah and Whelan make way; on come Kodjia and Carroll.

Third and final change for Reading - Oliveira makes way for Yakou Méïté.

A break in play here as Nélson Oliveira gets a whack in the face and needs treatment.

Second Reading sub in quick succession. On comes Sone Aluko, replacing Lewis Baker.

With three-quarters of the game played, the first sub sees Omar Richards replace Callum Harriott on the left flank.

Oliveira stabs a ball wide towards Harriott, who drives down the line and tries to find the Portuguese striker in the middle... just overhits the cross and Kalinic is able to come out and collect.

Andy Yiadom gets booked for a late challenge. It's a bitty game at the moment.

Defensive headers in quick succession by Miazga and Moore, seeing to some dangerous crosses.

Oliveira in action on his debut.

Nélson Oliveira now booked, again the ref sees it as a dive as Hutton is in close proximity in the area when Swift chips in.

After a card-less first half, the ref dips into his pocket for the third time in eight minutes after the break. John Swift takes out El Ghazi on the counter and gets booked.

Moments later, another yellow for a Villa man as Whelan puts in an untidy challenge.

First booking of the game - El Ghazi flops to the floor in the Reading area, fooling no-one. The ref spots the dive and issues a yellow card.

The second half is underway. Royals get the game going again. No subs at the break.

Teams are back out the tunnel again - 45 more minutes to come!

HALF-TIME | Reading 0-0 Aston Villa

No goals at the break. Villa have hit the woodwork and Kalinic has made a few good saves to keep the game level.

Chance from a free-kick as Ejaria is hacked down on the left. Great free-kick by Swift, Oliveira wins the header... Kalinic saves and it's out on the far side!

A neat touch by Blackett and the ball is played to Oliveira, in the D. Hits a venomous effort which Kalinic reacts well to and pushes away.

Alan Hutton bundles down Ovie Ejaria in the area - but the ref waves away the claims for a penalty. Quite remarkable that it wasn't given - players and fans alike are both confused and incensed.

Baker and Adomah vying for possession.

Clever forward-play from Oliveira, who draws a foul outside the area as Harriott plays in to feet.

Shooting chance from the free-kick and Baker strikes with his left - comfortably clearing Kalinic's bar.

Elphick hits the bar for Villa! An inswinging corner by Hourihane is nodded against the woodwork. Closest either side has gone.

Twice within the space of two minutes, Alan Hutton wipes out Callum Harriott on either side. Both fouls, neither deemed a yellow card by the referee. The Villa man argues with the official, though he doesn't have a case.

John Swift looking to pick a gap in the Villa defence.

Another good chance as Baker sprints onto a ball into the right channel and hangs up a cross in the middle - it's over Oliveira, and Ejaria can't convert as a Villa man arrives just ahead.

Close! Baker picks up on the right-hand side and fizzes a cross in to Oliveira, whose volley is just over the bar!

Rinomhota tries to inject a bit of pace into a Reading attack - he spots the overlap of Yiadom, who wins a corner from the byline. Goalless so far.

A lovely round-the-corner flick by Lewis Baker for John Swift to receive on the break - he feeds Blackett on the overlap, and Villa midfielder Hourihane does well to take it away from Oliveira in the centre. Reading corner.

Best opportunity so far as El Ghazi cuts in off the left for Villa and forces a low stop from Martínez - the goalkeeper parries into the path of Abraham, who steers his stooping header wide.

Harriott slices a clearance which almost allows Abraham in - but the Reading defence react quickly and divert his cross-shot behind for a corner.

Reading seeing plenty of the ball in the early stages but yet to test Kalinic in the Villa net. At the other end Villa have had a couple of set-piece situations which the Royals' defence have dealt with well.

Tammy Abraham with the first chance of the game for Villa after receiving from Whelan, but good hands by Martínez who holds comfortably.

Kick-off - Villa get the ball rolling at Madejski Stadium.

Here come the teams - kick-off is imminent! First, we'll observe a minute's applause to commemorate former captain Johnny Walker.

'The Big Bad Wolf' Jason Roberts is a guest in Hospitality today - and we've just heard his song played at Madejski Stadium!
