José Gomes revealed just how much of a warrior our front-man is – keen to get back out on the field in the blue and white hoops as soon as possible.
“Nélson is doing better, considering that he broke his nose in four places,” the manager said.
“In the end he had luck, because he could be blind right now. We could be talking about an ex-player.
“It was really tough. His face – it was really horrible. He deserves our support – he is a great professional.
“He wanted to train in the first session this week, and the doctor said, ‘no, that’s impossible – are you crazy or what?’
"Nelson asked me to count him in for the next match but I said that we must wait.
“But he is completely motivated to be part of the team again and he deserves all of the nice words that he received.”
