It is said that, on average, a football fan has found their ‘team for life’ by the time that they reach primary school.
In that case, Kingsley and our Community Trust have gone a long way to fostering lifelong Royals supporters last week as they took The Royal Bus to Mothercare in Reading.
Some of Reading's youngest residents had a chance to meet our mascot Kingsley and members of the Community Trust, who provide plenty of fantastic programmes for young people from all backgrounds in the Reading and Thames Valley area.
Situated in Vastern Court, adjacent to the train station, the Reading branch of Mothercare had plenty of extra fun for the family thanks to the appearance of The Royal Bus.
Staff from our Community Trust (as well as Kingsley) were giving away infant kits to newest members of the Royal family, who were able to take home their very first hoops. And parents were also able to grab some fantastic Family discounts on tickets – we can’t wait to welcome some young visitors to Madejski Stadium for the very first time.
On matchdays, The Royal Bus is parked up at the Fun Zone at Madejski Stadium and allows our young supporters to come along and play board games, get involved in colouring activities, read books and tonnes more.
But the bus also makes its way onto the road and to events in our local community, too. In November, a girls’ football tournament at Crosfields School saw The Royal Bus bringing some extra entertainment to the sidelines of a fun festival of football.
The Royal Bus will be back out in the local community again soon; make sure you follow @RFCCommunity on Twitter for more information about upcoming events in your area.
