Reading go red for Red Nose Day | Just £5 to kit up for Comic Relief

Owners offer fans bespoke limited edition red shirt in aid of charity

26 February 2019

The Royals are going red for Red Nose Day.

The Royals’ owners, Mr Yongge Dai and Ms Xiu Li Dai, are offering our fans the opportunity to pick up a one-off limited edition kit and a chance to engage in this year’s Comic Relief fundraising campaign.

Every kit, adult and child’s sizes, will be available to buy for just £5! And all proceeds will go to Comic Relief.

Matching shorts and socks will be in limited supply too, the full strip priced at a minimum of £10. But, we are also deliberately leaving the official price tag off these bespoke kits in store, to allow supporters the ability to donate anything above the minimum £5 should they choose to give a little more back to a very worthy cause and some very worthy recipients.

This year’s Red Nose Day is scheduled for Friday 15th March 2019, but the red shirts will be available to buy two weeks in advance - from 10am on Friday 1st March in the Megastore and 9am online via

Comic Relief has invested more than £1 billion since its inception in 1985, supporting vulnerable people and communities in the UK and overseas. And proceeds from the sale of this red Royals kit will go directly to the charity to support a range of very good causes.

The Comic Relief campaign’s vision is to create a just world free from poverty by raising funds via amazing organisations doing amazing things. And Reading Football Club want to play a small part in helping to raise what funds we can for some of the fantastic work they do to support mental health, disease and famine, gender equality and education of young people internationally and at home.

Red, of course, plays a prominent part in our crest. But don’t panic! We won’t betray our beloved blue and white hoops at home, nor swap it for the black and grey we are sporting on the road this season.

Our first team as well as a number of our Academy teams are set to train in the red shirts on Friday 15th March (signed worn shirts will be auctioned off for the charity) but this special red kit is really just for our fans! And, in total support of Comic Relief, we want you to help us paint the town red for Red Nose Day.

The shirts, which have gold trim and the Royals crest emblazoned on its chest, are in limited supply, so act fast if you want to stand out from the crowd in following the Royals for the final 12 games of the season. On Friday 1st March, visit the Megastore from 10am or buy online via from 9am.

We want to help you make a difference. Thank you for your support!
