Surprisingly, it took until nearly midway through the first period for the goals to begin flowing. But then an eight-minute hat-trick for Fara Williams – twice from the penalty spot and once from a corner routine – put Reading well in command.
England international Lauren Bruton, who had won the two spot-kicks, added her name to the scoresheet before the break as she raced onto Jo Potter’s lofted pass and lobbed Keynsham goalie Charlotte Haynes.
After the interval, Brooke Chaplen scored twice in as many minutes, with two well-taken finishes, before Bruton added her second as she slotted in from close range.
Williams took her personal tally to five soon after; firstly tucking in another spot-kick after drawing a foul, and then following up when Charlie Estcourt’s initial effort was saved.
Then Estcourt got in on the action with the Royals’ tenth of the afternoon, turning in a low ball across the face of goal.
Rakel Hönnudóttir notched her first two in the blue and white hoops after coming on as a sub; firstly finishing high into the net after her first effort was saved, and then following in when Jade Moore’s effort was saved.
Gemma Davison rounded off the scoring with six minutes to go, finishing across goal after Williams sent her free.
