FULL-TIME | Manchester United 2-0 Reading

Plenty to be proud of as the Royals caused United lots of problems, but first-half goals by Juan Mata and Romelu Lukaku send the Red Devils into the Fourth Round of the Emirates FA Cup.

Pereira goes close to sealing it with a third, but Jaakkola makes a great save.

Rashford almost catches Reading out at the back but Jaakkola forces him wide, and then the England forward trips over the ball as he tries in vain to keep it in play.

Time running out for Reading to get back into it.  Andy Rinomhota has adjusted seamlessly to the right-back role and puts in another fantastic challenge to stop Rashford in his tracks.  Another eye-catching performance for the youngster.

John Swift trying to get Reading back into the match.

Debutant Tahith Chong receives a booking as he catches Omar Richards late.

Third and final change sees Callum Harriott replaced by Yakou Meite.  He goes up top and Loader drops a little deeper.

Romero pushes Aluko's shot around the post!  Mo Barrow rode a tackle before cutting into the path of the sub, whose bobbling shot from the edge of the area is palmed out for a corner.

United sub Chong looks to use his pace and is played in down the right, but a terrific and well-timed recovery by Moore ensures no route to goal.

Harriott gets a shot away.

Full-back Ashley Young hits a higher gear as he gets down the left and pulls back to Fellaini, whose stabbed effort is saved and held by Jaakkola; a chance for a third but wasted.

Royals still plugging away but haven't been able to make any of their opportunities count at the start of the second half.  United are seeing more and more of the ball now and trying to kill the game off.

And another sub for United, as Marcus Rashford replaces the injured Alexis Sanchez.

Double sub for Man Utd as Tahith Chong and Marouane Fellaini come on for Fred and Juan Mata.

Second sub for Reading as Garath McCleary is replaced by Mo Barrow.

Liam Moore with a trademark block.  Lukaku bullies his way inside from the left and shoots with his right boot but the Reading centre-half positions himself well to keep it out.

Great chance for Callum Harriott!  Sone Aluko finds him free and he pings an effort which Romero saves with his feet.

Liam Kelly has notched a few special goals in his time and he tries to make it another one, shooting on the bounce from 40 yards as it sits up nicely.  It veers wide though.

Another shot from Swift, but it's down the throat of Romero.  It was a well-hit free-kick from 25 yards which dipped, but it was central and an easy take.

A decent opening straight away for Reading as McCleary steams down the left and Loader sets up Swift, but his powered shot is over the bar.

United kick off the second half, and we're shooting towards our fans up in the East Stand.

Half-time sub for Reading - Sone Aluko comes on for Tiago Ilori, who was injured in the first half.  Yiadom drops in at centre-half and Rinomhota goes to right-back.

HALF-TIME | Manchester United 2-0 Reading

A harsh reflection on a good display in the first period, as Juan Mata's penalty midway through the half is added to in the fourth added minute by Romelu Lukaku.

Goal - 2-0 to United.  Lukaku breaks the offside trap and manages to round Jaakkola, and places in from a narrow angle.

Yiadom receives in the area and cracks a shot at goal - Romero keeps it out!  More terrific build-up and bold attacking play.

A chance for the leveller, but Harriott can't make it count!  Again a high press from Reading sees possession turned over high upfield, but the winger's shot lacks the power to trouble Romero at his near post.

Yiadom can consider himself hard done by as he wins the ball near the Man United byline, under the nose of the assistant referee who didn't see any infringement, but the referee gives a free-kick to the home side.  There were players arriving quickly to try and get into dangerous areas.

Plenty for the manager to be encouraged by, despite the Royals trailing.

Another quick counter by the Royals as they win possession back and swarm forward.  Harriott runs out of room though and Jones wins the ball back as the Royals man enters the area.

First booking of the game goes to Andy Yiadom, who catches Fred heavily after the ball had been played.

The Royals come forward again and Harriott's blistering shot curls away from the goal.  Reading had numbers forward again.

Loader with a great chance for his first ever senior goal as Harriott gets clear down the right and finds him in the middle - but he's shown wide and eventually Romero hooks away for a corner.

At one end, a terrific tackle by Omar Richards to deny Sanchez. At the other end, Harriott runs out of room as the Royals try to counter.

The home fans appeal for another VAR decision as a shot strikes Andy Yiadom's arm, but it was from point-blank range and the referee waves away the appeals instantly.

John Swift and Andreas Pereira tussle in the middle.

Goal - 1-0 to Manchester United.  Juan Mata steps up and fires low into the bottom corner to open a lead for the Red Devils.

Penalty given to United for a foul on Mata, after much deliberation.

VAR check in progress - a United player goes down in the area and we're waiting to hear the verdict...

Great chance for Andy Yiadom, but he fires over!  McCleary was played in down the left channel, skipped in and tried to set up Harriott, but it runs through to the full-back on the far side.  He fires over from a narrow angle.

Sanchez goes close with United's first effort of note, but his dipping effort doesn't quite drop enough to test Jaakkola.

Ilori is going to play on - he gingerly makes his way back onto the pitch.  John O'Shea is warming up just in case, and he gets a big applause from the home crowd in acknowledgement of his successes as a United player.

Another stoppage, this time for Reading. Doesn't look good for Tiago Ilori, who was shunted midair by Romelu Lukaku and landed awkwardly.  The physios are taking a look at his shoulder.

United spring an attack in lucky fashion as Moore's powerful clearance strikes Mata and squirms straight to Lukaku, who switches to Sanchez. But the Royals get back quickly to snuff out the danger.

Stoppage as United midfielder Scott McTominay receives treatment from the physios, as he receives a whack when he challenges in the Royals area.  He'll be okay to continue.

A couple of one-twos from Swift, linking up with Loader and McCleary.  He tries to find winger McCleary but he'd just held his run and the pass runs through to the goalkeeper.

A positive start from the Royals, with most of the possession. But as yet unable to pick any gaps in the final third.

Kick-off! Danny Loader gets the ball rolling for Reading and we're shooting towards the Stretford End.

Here come the two teams!
