Royals goalkeeper George Legg was a guest of honour at Nine Mile Ride’s presentation evening, which was held in the Premier Suite at Madejski Stadium last week.
Year 5 and 6 students from the local primary school have been regularly attending Learning Zone sessions at the home of Reading FC, thanks to Premier League Primary Stars funding.
Parts of the stadium have been converted into a classroom to give young people the opportunity to improve their numeracy and literacy skills, as well as increasing their self-confidence, team-building and self-esteem.
This all culminated with the presentation evening in the Premier Suite, where pupils showcased to teachers and parents (and to George Legg!) all of the work they had achieved during the programme. That included video presentations, one of which was their interviews with fellow Reading shot-stopper Sam Walker in the media suite from a previous session.
George was on hand to deliver awards for various individual achievements, as well as recognising all of the students who took part and completed the programme. There were also games to get stuck into on the evening itself; one award was decided on the night for the fastest speed-stacker, as the students aimed to quickly construct a tower of plastic cups.
Our goalkeeper posed for plenty of photos too, making sure that it was a memorable evening for everyone in attendance.
