The County Durham-based referee was in charge at Griffin Park earlier this season in a dramatic game between the Royals and Brentford, in which a Jón Daði Böðvarsson brace secured a point away from home back in September.
Mr Eltringham's last visit to Madejski Stadium came around this time last year, in a disappointing 2-0 home defeat to Millwall.
The referee is in the middle of his 10th season as a Football League official, averaging around 3.5 yellow cards in his 24 matches so far this term.
Mr Eltringham will be joined on the day by Matt Foley and Mark Pottage as his assistant referees, with Darren Drysdale between the benches as fourth official.
