Pendlebury puts pen to paper on his first professional deal

Academy midfield star signs up as a Royal until 2021

21 January 2019

Reading Football Club are pleased to announce that Oliver Pendlebury, 17, has put pen to paper on a contract which keeps him at Madejski Stadium until June 2021.

For Pendlebury, who only celebrated his 17th birthday at the weekend, this represents his first professional contract with the club.

The versatile midfielder has made 13 starts for the Under-18s so far this season and has played well above his age group to make two appearances for our Under-23s in 2018-19.

The England youth international, who has captained his country at Under-16 level, started one of those Under-23s appearances against the might of Manchester United at Madejski Stadium before Christmas.

And Oliver was in the squad for our Under-23s on his last day as a 16-year-old last week when Scott Marshall’s men beat Colchester United in the Premier League Cup at Woking on Friday night.

Pendlebury has now begun a brand new week by committing his future to Madejski Stadium until June 2021.
