Ahead of the game | Pre-season programme ends with Chelsea

A look ahead to Sunday’s fixture against the Blues

26 July 2019

Just one more pre-season fixture remains for the Royals before the season gets underway properly – and it’s a big one, with Chelsea in town this Sunday.

Reading vs Chelsea
Sunday 28th July 2019, 3pm
Madejski Stadium
Pre-season friendly

It will be Frank Lampard’s first match as Chelsea boss on English soil, following the Blues’ worldwide set of fixtures – which included a 2-1 victory over FC Barcelona at the Saitama Stadium in Japan last time out.

Back in familiar surroundings, the West London club will make the short hop down the M4 to Madejski Stadium. For us, it will offer a stern test against some superstars as our preparation for 2019-20 comes to a head.

It could offer a first Madejski Stadium appearance in the hoops for Michael Morrison and Charlie Adam, as well as Matt Miazga’s first game since his return as we take on his parent club.

Supporters are strongly recommended to buy before the postage deadline at 3pm on Thursday 25th July. Because Season Ticket holders who attend will be issued with paper tickets, we are expecting a large number of supporters to collect on matchday – therefore by receiving your ticket in the post, you will avoid the need to join a lengthy queue.

Season Ticket holders benefit from a discount for this game, with Adult tickets just £10 and Concession prices available.

Full ticket information including prices and how to buy is available here.

Supporter experience | What’s new in 2019-20?

23 July 2019

We have our new food offerings around the outside of the ground for this fixture, thanks to local business Blue Collar – their stalls will be in the Fan Zone and around the stadium vicinity.

Make sure you follow @bluecollarfood on Twitter to find out their latest news, where they’ll be announcing what fantastic food outlets will be located where for the first fixture.

For the 2019-20 season, we are prioritising contactless card payments on kiosks within Madejski Stadium - meaning quicker service for all. There will be only one cash till per kiosk so please ensure you have card payment if possible.

Make sure you visit the new Fanstore too before or after the game – the 2019-20 Macron kit will not yet be on sale at this fixture, but there is plenty of other Royals merchandise available right now.

Our Hospitality suites will be available, with the exception of Club 106 which will be launched at our first Sky Bet Championship game when we meet Sheffield Wednesday on August 3rd.
