Reading’s home match against Cardiff City has been chosen to be shown on Sky Sports, with the match moving to a 12noon kick-off on Sunday 18th August.
It’ll be the Royals’ first action in front of the live TV cameras in the 2019-20 campaign, coming a few days after our Carabao Cup First Round tie away at Wycombe Wanderers.
The Bluebirds will be making the simple journey along the M4 after their drop back into the Championship, following their relegation from the Premier League in May.
The Royals’ last home match against Cardiff came back in December 2017, when the then-promotion-chasers pegged Reading back from a two-goal lead to earn a 2-2 draw – in a match also broadcast live on Sky Sports.
Separately, the date for the Royals’ reverse fixture against the Bluebirds has been switched to Friday 31st January, 7.45pm kick-off at Cardiff City Stadium.
With the Welsh capital playing host to a Six Nations rugby match on Saturday 1st February at the nearby Millennium Stadium, the decision has been taken to rearrange Reading’s visit to Cardiff to avoid a fixture clash and to manage traffic flow in and out of the city.
Please note: The reverse fixture in January is not currently due to be a live TV selection for Sky Sports, but the change of date to a Friday night remains in place.
Match ticket details for the coming season will be released in due course, as the first team returned to training at Hogwood at the start of this week.
