Young Academy midfielder, Jordan Holsgrove enthused about his time on pre-season tour with the first team so far, having scored twice in the Royals' 10-0 win over Gibraltar United on Wednesday night.
The Scotland youth international played the first 45 minutes as the Royals registered a hefty win in their first friendly in Spain.
Holsgrove is one of a host of Academy-bred players to have made the plane to Estepona, which is an opportunity he is relishing.
"It was a great experience to be with the first team again," he said after the match. "I haven't had a lot of opportunities with them, but to get two goals is brilliant.
"I wasn't in my usual position out on the left wing, but I made the most of it. It's a lot more intense with the first team, they're quite welcoming, having to do a singing initiation too.
"It's been very good overall, and I feel like I'm ready to take the step and up the tempo - I'm enjoying it.
"My goal now is to get in the first team. If it's not that, I want to get some first team football - I'm trying to impress the gaffer as much as possible.
"The camaraderie is brilliant, all the lads gel together very well and it's brilliant to be here with them.
"The way the manager is trusting young players and bringing us all out here as well is fantastic, it gives us all hope and it's exciting, hopefully I can progress.
"After that game and us winning 10-0, you can't wait for the next game to come along - I'm really looking forward to it."
