Reading FC Women can announce that Sophie Howard, Molly Bartrip and Maz Pacheco have all put pen to paper on new contracts with the Royals ahead of the start of the 2019-20 WSL campaign.
Howard returns from an international adventure in France, playing a part in the FIFA Women’s World Cup with Scotland last month. The German-born 25-year-old has now vowed to fight for domestic honours for another season as a Royal.
“I’m very happy to have signed another year for Reading,” Sophie said. “This team and club have huge potential and, with where I’m currently at in my career, I believe that this is the right place to be. I’m really looking forward to this coming season and am extremely excited to see how far we can go this year.”
Former Charlton, Spurs and Arsenal youth player, Bartrip, has extended her stay at Reading for another two years.
“I’m excited to see what my future holds for this club and for myself individually,” said the 23-year-old former England Under-23 international, who represented her country at various youth levels and captained Arsenal’s Under-17s to the League and Cup double before joining the Royals in 2014. “I personally feel I can still improve even more as a player here at Reading and I’m determined to help the club push on in the WSL this season.”
20-year-old England Under-21 international Pacheco has also extended her stay with the Royals for a further year.
The left-back said, “Signing again was a no-brainer for me. I want to push myself even further this season with this team and, working under this manager and these coaches, I feel like I can do just that. The new philosophy that Kelly wants to introduce is something that I fully believe in and think it will help the way I want to develop as a player and as a person. I can’t wait for this new season to start.”
The Royals have also offered a professional contract to Welsh international defender Lily Woodham. “It’s a dream come true to sign my first professional contract with Reading and I’m thankful for the belief the club have shown in me. It’s a very proud moment for me and my family. I can’t wait to get going and continue the hard work.”
Congratulations to Sophie, Molly, Maz and Lily on their new deals and good luck for the new season ahead.
