Matt Miazga completed his return to Reading on loan from Chelsea on Wednesday, and the defender hopes to continue where he left off after a successful spell in defence towards the second half of last season.
"I am very happy to be here, very happy to join with a full season ahead, get back to work and get back into the swing of things," he began.
"I got on with the lads very well, with the manager as well and the coaching staff, and everyone within the club as well, so I'm looking forward to the upcoming season.
"I've built a good rapport with the lads here already, so I'm itching and buzzing to get going. I've enjoyed my time here and I want to continue that – continue to build, continue to grow and I feel like this is the right place for me to achieve those things.
"I think the most important thing is trying to showcase my abilities to help the squad, and contribute as much as I can. Because at the end of the day, it's about the squad, and I think we have a very good one to compete."
Miazga believes that the fans played a big part in his success last season, and has called for their support once again to create more of the same noise this year.
"The fans played a big part in me enjoying my time here," he continued. "I remember that anytime a defensive play would be made, they would be chanting, 'USA, USA' - so they've really developed a good atmosphere in the past two or three months I was here.
"Hopefully we can continue that, continue to win football games, and take each game one at a time."
Matt was heavily involved in the United States' Gold Cup run over the summer, reaching the final against Mexico. The steady flow of football has helped keep him feeling match fit as we close in on the new season.
"I had the Gold Cup, so I feel fit, I feel sharp. Unluckily we didn’t get the final result we were hoping for in the final, but it's football. We have got to learn from it and move forward, and now I'm looking forward to the season.
"It's a big season ahead and I think we have to aim really high. There's a lot of good energy around the club, there's a great buzz around here, and I'm excited to be a part of it."
