Royals pay tribute to record 2005-06 achievement with launch of ‘Club 106’

Madejski Stadium tips its cap to ‘the greatest ever team’ in history with new hospitality suite

9 July 2019

We’ve got the record…106!

Our title win of 2005-06 remains the greatest ever seen in Football League history and to rightly give that incredible campaign a little more deserved recognition, today - on Steve Coppell's birthday - we’d like to introduce you to ‘Club 106’.

Anyone need reminding of that record-breaking season in our history and its fairytale finale? Probably not. 106 points, just two defeats all season, 99 goals scored - the last of which came from the spot and the right foot of captain Graeme Murty.

Sweeping home a late penalty against QPR in front of a packed and partying Madejski Stadium, the Royals captain had sealed victory and our 106th point - a phenomenal record that still stands today. “I couldn't have written the script better,” the skipper emotionally explained after the win. “It’s in the realms of fantasy.”

The players names have since gone down in club folklore. Hahnemann, Murty, Shorey, Sonko, Ingimarsson, Harper, Sidwell, Convey, Little, Kitson, Doyle, Lita, Long…

…and now we want to welcome you into Club 106.

Replacing the 1871 Suite, Club 106 is a newly refurbished hospitality offering at Madejski Stadium which will form a brand-new matchday package available to everyone in 2019-20.

Members of Club 106 will arrive in the lap of luxury via a private hospitality entrance on matchday and enjoy fantastic views of the action at Madejski Stadium in a fun, friendly atmosphere.

We’ll offer you and your family, friends or colleagues a grazing experience throughout the afternoon, including a varied selection of delicious specially-constructed small dishes for you to enjoy.

The menu has been designed to conjure up a wide variety of taste sensations for each diner; each individual dish has been created by Head Chef, Allen Townsend, to complement and yet also contrast the other dishes on the day.
