A round-up of some of the changes to your Madejski Stadium matchday

23 July 2019

A new season, a fresh slate, the points tallies reset to zero and a new campaign to look forward to.

New faces are through the door the squad is taking shape. And as ever, our off-the-pitch offerings are evolving as we aim to make the matchday as enjoyable as possible, whatever the result.

There are a few changes that you might need to know, beginning with Sunday’s pre-season game against Chelsea – here’s a handy guide.

Blue Collar food around the ground

As we announced last week, local business Blue Collar – run by Club 1871 Season Ticket holder Glen Dinning – will be supplying the food in the Fan Zone and all around the stadium vicinity. That will include jerk chicken, dry aged burgers, gourmet mac ’n’ cheese, triple cooked chips, Korean chicken, halloumi fries, vegan and veggie options, burritos, steak wraps, Greek souvlaki – and more.

You’ll hardly need any extra incentive to arrive early and to tuck into some gourmet grub, while you and your mates share your pre-match predictions.

More information about our partnership with Blue Collar is here.

Late game in the Fan Zone

For our Saturday 3pm kick-offs at Madejski Stadium, our big screen in the Fan Zone will now also screen the evening kick-off, as well as the lunchtime match.

So you can arrive early and take in a game before you cheer on the Royals, and stick around after the final whistle with your friends to see the late broadcast too.

Concourse: new menu and more card payment

Our new tills in the concourse area will all have card readers, so that means quicker payment and faster-moving queues. We have also upped the number of tills throughout the stadium by a third, and only one till per kiosk will operate with cash – look for the overhead signs for guidance.

The matchday menu within Madejski Stadium has been refreshed and will see new pies and wraps on offer – watch this space for further information.

Our Hospitality suite in the North West corner has been refitted and rebranded, and will doff its cap to the unrivalled success of the 2005-06 Championship winning side. Refitted and refurbished ahead of the new campaign, it’s your chance to join us in lap of luxury via a private hospitality entrance on matchday and enjoy fantastic views of the action at Madejski Stadium in a fun, friendly atmosphere.

There are plenty of other packages available to suit all budgets, including in the Trophy Room – formerly known as the Vice Presidents’ Club.

Renewed version of The Royal

The Reading matchday programme, The Royal, has a new look and feel for the new campaign and will include some new and exclusive content which you won’t find anywhere else.

You will get your first taste of the new-look publication this Sunday – we are producing a full 68-page programme for our pre-season friendly fixture against Premier League giants Chelsea, so grab one from our sellers around the ground.

Refitted Fanstore

The Fanstore – previously known as the Megastore – has been refurbished and proudly displays some sportswear from our new kit suppliers Macron. Our new 2019-20 home and away shirts will be unveiled this week, and the on-sale date will be announced in due course.
