Last season's top goalscorer, Yakou Méïté is relishing the new season approaching, and aims to do even better this time around.
The 23-year-old enjoyed his time off in close season, and ensured he kept on top of fitness as he arrived for pre-season training at the start of the week.
When asked about the mood in the camp, he said: “We had two months off, so now I think everyone is happy to come back and is fresh for the new season.
“We’re happy to come back and work hard now.”
Méïté netted 13 times in all competitions in 2018-19, and when asked about last season, he continued: “It’s important for me, I was injured for the last game of the season, so I tried to stay fit and now I think I can start training with the squad.
“I think I had a good season and need to keep going, and do better than last year.”
His finished up by discussing pre-season and expectations before a hectic 2019-20 campaign:
“The pre-season will be good for us to understand each other because the coach came last year but didn’t do pre-season with the team, we will be working hard and trying to build a very good team for the next season.
“It’s important because I think the coach needs to find a good team for the next season as we have a lot of games, you know how the Championship is, we need everyone fit.
“We’ve got some good friendly games so it’s important to see how the people cope with the pre-season, and be ready for the new season.”
