If you’ve competed at two Olympic games and been crowned world champion of your sport on six occasions, your experiences are worth sharing.
Anna Hemmings MBE fits that bill. And that’s why we were delighted to welcome her as our guest speaker at our second Network Royals event last week, where business from the local area get together at Madejski Stadium to network over an enjoyable buffet lunch.
With some guests returning after the inaugural event, and others joining us in RG2 for the first time, it was another great day at the home of the Royals.
The highlight of the afternoon was hearing what Anna had to say about her rise to the top of her sport, which included competing at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, and winning six World Championship gold medals across individual and team events.
Indeed, she stressed the importance of being part of a team to reach the pinnacle – as well as laying out her steps to optimum performance which included creating a learning environment, focusing on performance rather than results, willingness to speak up, the importance of listening, taking stock of different viewpoints, and the ability to review and reflect on performance.
There was something for everyone from the day, and we were delighted to welcome a number of new member organisations: ActionCOACH, Archway Business Solutions, Audiotek, Bishops Move, Branston Adams, Digity, Fast Response PFA, Fidelity Energy, Jelf, Kathryn Fell Photography, Kept Assets, Mashie Golf, Motor Republic, Outsource International, Reality HR, River Creative, Trembeth Wealth Management, The Design Business, University of Reading, Strangebrew, We Are Tabono and What’s On In Reading.
Our next instalment of the Network Royals Business Club takes place at Madejski Stadium on Wednesday 19th June. For more information about the event and how you can attend, click here.
