The Royals return to pre-season training at the start of July, and their first match action will be a behind-closed-doors friendly against Southend United on Saturday 6th July.
The League One outfit will come to Hogwood after José Gomes puts his side through their first week of pre-season training - as they begin building up towards the new Championship campaign.
Southend, who avoided relegation from the third tier on the last day of the season, have former Royals striker Simon Cox on their books - and last played a Reading side in a 1-0 win against the Royals' U21s in the Checkatrade Trophy in October 2017.
While supporters will be unable to attend this match, the club will bring full coverage of the match via our social media channels, keeping you in the loop of Reading's first warm-up game of the summer.
Details of league fixtures for the new season will be announced at 9am on Thursday 20th June, before the players return to training on Monday 1st July.
