22-year-old goalkeeper Lewis Ward has today completed a permanent transfer to Exeter City for an undisclosed fee.
Having joined our Academy at the age of nine, the Reading-born goalie and former Season Ticket holder progressed through the ranks at Hogwood and was part of the squad that lifted the U21 Premier League Cup in April 2014.
Despite not making a first-team appearance in Reading colours, Ward picked up experience at home and abroad by representing Whitehawk, Sutton United, Margate, Hungerford Town and Aldershot Town on loan spells, as well as Icelandic side Fylkir.
Ward then spent the first half of the 2018-19 campaign on loan with Northampton Town, before moving to fellow League Two side Forest Green Rovers in January and helped them to a play-off place.
Now he embarks on a fresh adventure with the Grecians, where he will link up with fellow former Royals Jake Taylor and Pierce Sweeney ahead of their preparations for their upcoming Sky Bet League Two campaign.
We wish Lewis the very best of luck for his time at Exeter City and for his future career.
