All you need to know as the Royals head up to Stoke this weeken

15 March 2019

Saturday will see the Royals travel to Stoke City for the first time in six years, with plenty at stake this weekend...

Saturday will represent the last chance the Royals will have to pick up points before the March international break, with a fortnight's gap in fixtures awaiting after this weekend.

And Nathan Jones' side are picking up in form, too. The Potters have gone unbeaten in their last six Championship matches, keeping clean sheets in their last three.

It has been a disappointing first season back in the second tier for Stoke, however. They were pre-season promotion favourites after keeping the core of their Premier League squad together, but they sit 10 points away from the Play-Offs, and 10 points above the bottom three.

They have shown their mettle and toughness to break down this season, though, with England goalkeeper, Jack Butland keeping tabs between the posts for the Potters.

It was a tight affair in the reverse fixture in RG2 back in December, with Mo Barrow's last-minute equaliser earning Reading a vital point at home on the day.

As for the Royals, they'll be hoping to bounce back from midweek disappointment against high-flying Leeds United, and try to clear themselves of the bottom three before the international break.

Debutants from midweek, Ryan East and Michael Olise, will both be hoping to continue their involvement with the first team this weekend.

Every point matters in the Championship, with Reading in and among four teams that are separated by only one point either side of the relegation zone.
