Peter Bankes takes charge of his first Reading match of the season when we visit Stoke City this weekend.
Conversely it’ll be the fourth time that the Merseyside-based ref will have looked after a game involved the Potters in 2018-19.
Those games included a 2-0 Carabao Cup win against Premier League side Huddersfield Town early in the campaign, a defeat in the league to Hull by the same scoreline, and a 2-2 draw at Aston Villa in which he awarded both sides a penalty.
Truth be told, results haven’t gone our way when Mr Bankes has been on the whistle in recent seasons. Last year we were defeated 2-0 in Ipswich, and the season before we lost out 3-2 in Derby and 3-0 at Brighton.
And on the opening day of the 2015-16 campaign, before the introduction of Hawk-Eye, Aaron Tshibola’s strike against Birmingham City was never given despite crossing the line.
Assistant referees on Saturday will be Darren Blunden and Timothy Wood and the fourth official is Jeremy Simpson.
