Reading's Under-23s have been drawn against Bayern Munich II in the Semi-Finals of the Premier League International Cup.
It'll be another fantastic opportunity for Scott Marshall's squad to show their quality on a European stage, making it through to the last four of an extremely competitive competition.
Our youngsters finished top and unbeaten in their group, beating Leicester and Feyenoord with a hard-earned draw against Sparta Prague in between.
Next came Manchester United in the knockout stages, with Danny Loader's hat-trick sweeping the Royals past the Red Devils to set up this Semi-Final clash against fellow young hopefuls from Germany's most successful club.
With our Academy producing two more debutants this week in Ryan East and Michael Olise, Bayern Munich II has been the proving ground for some of Bayern's most successful players to break through their youth ranks. World-class talents such as Toni Kroos, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Thomas Muller, Mats Hummels and Philipp Lahm all have appearances for the youth side on their CV, before proving themselves on the global stage.
And the teams have history against each other in this competition. Last season, Bayern edged a tight encounter in the group stages courtesy of an early strike from Niklas Tarnat, with the Royals losing out 1-0 on the night at Adams Park.
It'll be an occasion closer to home this time around, however. Madejski Stadium will be the venue for this cup tie, with ticketing information to be released in due course. The tie is to be played by Friday 12th April, with the winners decided on the night - be it in normal time, extra time or penalties...
Our Under-23s are still going on three other fronts this season, as they get set to play Newcastle United in the last 16 of the Premier League Cup on Friday, before the test of Maidenhead United in the Semi-Finals of the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup on Tuesday 19th March.
