Back our U23s to Play-Off success on Friday

Semi-Final against Newcastle to come at Madejski Stadium

2 May 2019

Before the weekend's action, our young Royals have the chance to earn a shot at promotion to the top tier of U23 football...

Reading U23 vs Newcastle United U23
PL2, Division 2 Play-Off Semi-Final

Madejski Stadium
Friday 3rd May
7pm kick-off

It's going to be an interesting encounter as Reading's Under-23s get set to take on Newcastle on Friday night. Not only were the teams separated only by goal difference in the Premier League 2 table, they now face off for a place in the Play-Off Final.

Scott Marshall's side are in cup final action on Bank Holiday Monday in the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup, but the Magpies lie in wait first on what is going to be a dramatic night in RG2.

Reading came away with all three points when the teams met at the start of the season in the North East, with a 4-2 win on their travels.

Their visitors hit back in their last meeting, however, when Newcastle left Adams Park with two goals and all three points.

Friday's match is going to be a one-legged semi-final, so the winner must be decided on the night at Madejski Stadium - with extra time and penalties ready to be deployed if necessary.

Entry is free for all supporters from Gate 4 at Madejski Stadium this Friday night, and parking is also free in RG2.

The young Royals made it to this stage last season in the Premier League 2, before coming away cruelly defeated 4-3 against Aston Villa this time last year. Villa are back in this year's Play-Offs, too, taking on Southampton at St. Mary's for a place alongside the winners of the Royals' clash with the Magpies.

We would love to see as many of you as possible warm up for the weekend by backing our young Royals as they go in search of a win that could put them one step away from promotion.
