Eamonn Dolan Series finishes with a flourish

Successful Academy tournament brings clubs together

27 May 2019

The Eamonn Dolan Tour Series finished off in 2018-19 with great success at Hogwood, with dozens of players taking part in a unique format.

Two separate weekend in mid-May saw our training facilities at Hogwood Park host the final rounds of the U9-U11 & U12-U13 Eamonn Dolan Tour Series.

This is the third year the series has been running, in memory of our late Academy Manager, Eamonn Dolan - with the intention to provide variety to the Academy games programme.

The series consists of a total of six clubs per age group, including Cardiff City, Swansea City, Southampton, Swindon Town, AFC Bournemouth and Bath & Wiltshire Schools.

The series follows a league format, with each participating club hosting one round of fixtures culminating in an exciting final day in Reading where we welcomed along Eamonn’s wife Erica and son Seamus to present the trophies to this season's winners.

Lead Foundation Phase Coach, Jamie Greenwood said: “The Eamonn Dolan Tour Series has continued to prove to be a valuable addition to our Academy games programme.

"Eamonn was an advocate for innovation and this series created in his memory is a fitting tribute to his legacy passion for youth development.

"The league format was designed with the intention to provide players exposure to competitive football in manageable doses, that allows players to learn how to manage games tactically and also their emotions under pressure.”
