As José said after our season finale last Sunday, the hard work starts now and preliminary designs have now been drawn up in the form of a pre-season trip to Spain.
Last season is done and dusted. Now 2019-20 is just around the corner and we can confirm that a large part of our pre-season fixture schedule will be a two-week stay in Estepona.
Our squad of first team players return to training on Monday 1st July. After some anticipated pre-season friendly action on UK soil (still to be finalised), the players are then expected to fly to Andalucía on Sunday 7th July and not escape the rigours of our coaching staff’s pre-season training programme until a flight out of Málaga two weeks later on Sunday 21st July 2019.
During their stay, the Royals are hoping to play a number of pre-season friendlies against opposition yet to be confirmed – potentially involving a couple of double header days that will feature back-to-back friendly games during that fortnight.
All the games in Spain are expected to be played at training venues not designed to be open for public access. However, via its digital and social media channels, the club will endeavour to bring its supporters all the match action and much more exclusive content from what is sure to be a high-intensity period of training that prepares our players for the brand new challenge ahead.
We are also able to confirm that Madejski Stadium will host a pre-season friendly on the weekend before the new season starts, so scribble 3pm on Sunday 28th July into your diaries for your return to the Royals’ home.
Further details surrounding our pre-season fixture schedule and the trip to Spain will be announced via the club’s official website and social media channels once all the details have been fully finalised.
