Stick around on Sunday for post-match ceremonies

Lap of Appreciation, Player of the Season awards and more after the final whistle

1 May 2019

There's plenty to celebrate on Sunday as the Royals take on Birmingham in the final Championship match of the season, and you're all invited to stay in your seats and allow the players to thank you for your support this season.

After the final whistle blows on Sunday afternoon, the Reading squad will be taking part in a Lap of Appreciation to thank all of you, our supporters, for backing them all the way in 2018-19.

While they're taking a lap of the pitch, the players who have earned the Player of the Season and Scholar of the Season awards respectively, will be announced and congratulated by their teammates.

That's not all, though. The Fan Zone will be remaining open until 4.30pm, with Huddersfield vs Manchester United being shown on the big screen afterwards as we hopefully enjoy a sunny Bank Holiday weekend in RG2.

But if you're worried about getting back to the town centre, we've got you covered. The F1 shuttle bus service to Reading town centre will be operating until 4.30pm on Sunday, and there will be a 15-minute delay for the Urban and Stagecoach buses at the end of the match so you are able to be present for the players' Lap of Appreciation.

As an added bonus, and partially in honour of our manager, a Portuguese street food stall from Serra Da Estrela will be serving delicacies outside Gate 10 at Madejski Stadium - adjacent to Club 1871 - offering you a taste of José Gomes' homeland as we celebrate Portugal Day in RG2.

Reading FC would like to request that all supporters remain in their seats for the completion of Sunday’s match.

The players and coaching staff would like to complete a lap of appreciation to thank you for your support throughout the 2018-19 season but will only be able to do so if the pitch remains clear.

The safety of players, managers, fans and match officials is of paramount importance and supporters who encroach on the pitch risk facing a banning order as well as a criminal conviction, while the Club could also face a fine.

We therefore ask that you support us in this way and remain in the stands at all times.

Thank you for your continued support, there's still time to join us this weekend for a party atmosphere in RG2 on Sunday - click the banner below for ticket information.
