Two weeks away from competitive action has given some extra time for our injured players to continue their rehabilitation.
While Lucas João has only just rejoined the group, Charlie Adam has been back on the grass for a little while.
And Lucas Boyé, who returned to action when he scored a winner for our Under-23s against Swansea City just before the break, is back in contention for a place in the team when we travel to Brentford this Saturday.
“They have worked hard and we’ve put some game-time into them,” said boss Mark Bowen of the players who have been missing in recent weeks.
“We had a training-ground game amongst ourselves with everyone who was back here last Friday, and our Under-23s played a game against Bournemouth as well to get some game-time in.
“It was Lucas João’s first morning with the group as a whole on Thursday, so he still needs some games under his belt. Charlie Adam is working his way back to full fitness; he is still a tiny bit off as yet.
“But in the last two weeks, Lucas Boyé has shown a real intensity in his work and he is ready for selection on Saturday.”
A number of players were away on international duty over the break – thankfully no scrapes or strains to worry about as they rejoin the camp.
“Everyone is fit as far as I’m aware,” the manager continued.
“Danny Loader and Yakou Méïté have been given an extra day because of being away with their international teams so they are back in on Friday morning, but as far as I am aware, everyone has come back fit and well – no knocks and bruises."
