It is nearing two weeks without any competitive fixtures, but Matt Miazga insists the blue and white hoops are ready and raring to go ahead of the full festive period.
The last international break for a few months arrived off the back of Reading registering 10 points out of a possible 12 under the management of Mark Bowen.
But as ever, the Sky Bet Championship deals every team with a hefty schedule over Christmas and the New Year, but this is something Royals defender Miazga is ready to embrace and pick up as many points as possible.
"We are excited about the festive period coming up – lots of games – we are ready to go.
"The table will really take shape in the next few months, with a lot of games and a lot of points to be won," Matt said. "That’s what we are looking forward too, playing these matches and get as many points on the board. We know the quality we have, we just have to make sure we produce it in games.
"We had a few guys away, so we didn’t have the full group. But we’ve been putting a lot of good work in; staying fit, staying sharp. Now the whole group is back we’ve worked on tactics and then we finish preparing for Brentford.
"The focus is on Saturday 3pm. That’s the most important game of the season so far. The most important is always the next game, and that’s Brentford away. We’re looking forward to it and itching to get going.
"We know they’re a good side. At the end of the day it matters what we do. We are going to go in there and put the game on our terms, be physical and battle and make sure we play our game. That is the mindset going in. Obviously, we have to be aware of how they play and how they can hurt us.
"The last four games, 10 points out of a possible 12 is pretty good. We look forward to Brentford and hopefully bringing home three points.
"Any game we know that there are good attacking threats, for every team in this league. You wouldn’t be professional if they were no good. Our focus as defenders and the whole team in general is to have a clean sheet.
"I think we have been scoring a lot of goals these past few games, so we have confidence in our strikers to get those goals, and we have a lot of confidence in our defenders to get clean sheets. At the end of the day it is a collective effort and we understand that so we will make sure we are ready to go."
