Reading Women report for international duty

Royals head off for Euro 2021 Qualifying

5 November 2019

Another international break sees several Reading FC Women players represent their respective nations in qualifying for the UEFA Women’s Euro 2021 Championship.

A break in domestic action sees Wales, Norway, Republic of Ireland and England’s Young Lionesses represented by Royals women.

Reading’s number one Grace Moloney, who received a commemorative shirt at Sunday’s game against West Ham for 150 appearances for the Royals, makes the Republic of Ireland squad for their trip to Athens to take on Greece. Republic of Ireland currently sit second in Group I with two wins from two in the tournament so far.

No less than five Reading players are in action in Group C, as Kristine Leine, Amalie Eikeland and Lisa-Marie Utland receive call-ups to the Norway squad to take on Northern Ireland on the 8th of November in Stavanger, Norway.

Rachel Rowe and Angharad James also go up against Northern Ireland on the 12th for their native Wales. Norway top Group C with a perfect three wins from three, whereas Cymru Women sit in a respectable second place with two wins and a draw so far in their campaign. Last month, Rowe marked her return to the Wales team after a year’s absence due to injury, with her first international goal, as Wales defeated Belarus 1-0.

On-loan Royal Rachel Furness, currently on a season long spell at Tottenham Women, competes against both Norway and Wales as part of the Northern Ireland squad.

The Young Lionesses are represented also, as Kiera Skeels travels to Portugal with England Under-19’s for the Algarve Tournament to play the Netherlands and Norway on the 6th and 8th of November respectively.

Reading FC Women return to domestic action at Madejski Stadium on November 17th against Bristol City Women in the Women’s Super League.

The fixture is being held during the inaugural FA Women’s Football Weekend and Season Ticket holders for the men’s team are reminded that they can attend Reading FC Women home games for free by using their Season Ticket card on arrival at Madejski Stadium.
