England Women’s World Cup star and Royals number 18 Jade Moore is looking forward to the upcoming Continental Cup clash against Lewes FC Women at Madejski Stadium this Sunday.
“It’s great that we get so many fans turn up when we play at the Madejski,” said Moore, who scored a brace in Reading’s 3-2 victory against Everton Women last weekend. “It always feels like a proper home game.”
Kelly Chambers’ side have had a strong start to their 2019-20 campaign, including the aforementioned victory against Everton at Adams Park, Wycombe, which has been the team’s home ground since 2016.
Sunday’s game against Lewes is the first of four fixtures that Royals Women are playing at the Madejski before the end of the calendar year. After this weekend’s fixture against the Rooks, West Ham visit on November 3rd, Bristol City follow on Sunday 17th November during the inaugural 'FA Women’s Football Weekend' and Crystal Palace come to town a few days later on Thursday 21st November.
“We are lucky that Adams Park is a great stadium to play the majority of our home games, but when we play at the Madejski, it just feels special,” continued Moore, who had a strong performance in the first round of the Continental Cup last month when Reading thrashed Tottenham Women 4-0 away from home.
“To me, it always feels like a cup final atmosphere whenever we play here and that is largely down to the fans. We want to see you all there on Sunday for the first of our fixtures at the Madejski. It’s going to be a great atmosphere and I’m sure we’ll give you a great game.”
