A first Reading goal for super-sub Lisa-Marie Utland earned the Royals their second league win after a first half brace from Jade Moore in a game that started off frantic, but cooled down as Kelly Chambers' side took control and asserted their dominance in the second half to ultimately win 3-2.
The Royals led early through Jade Moore, with her first goal for almost a year as she beat goalkeeper Tinja-Riika Korpela to a Fara Williams free kick to nod home after seven minutes.
Everton equalised three minutes later through Chloe Kelly as she tapped home from close range, following a Grace Moloney save.
The Royals led for the second time on 17 minutes from yet another Moore header. This time from a corner, again assisted by Williams, which she flicked on at the front post past Korpela.
That lead lasted six minutes as the visitors drew level from the penalty spot as Lucy Graham dispatched from 12 yards, having been fouled inside the area.
Brooke Chaplen came close to putting Reading ahead for the third time as her shot from a tight angle flashed across the Everton goal. That came following some superb build-up play down the right as Williams showed exquisite flair to flick a pass into the path of Chaplen to set her away.
Half-time: Reading FC Women 2-2 Everton Women
The Royals played with confidence throughout the game, constantly cutting Everton open with slick one-touch passing. This was more evident in the second-half when Reading slowed the frantic pace of the game and began taking control with long spells of posession.
A chance was conjured for Williams just inside the box, but her first-time shot hit the side-netting.
Minutes later, Norwegian striker Lisa-Marie Utland scored what proved to be the winning goal, 20 minutes from time as she rose highest to help on a Williams corner with a downward header at the far post.
The visitors had a great chance to snatch a point late on but Kelly missed the target, having been played through on goal.
Reading saw out the remaining minutes of the game holding onto the ball, to seal three points in their return to Adams Park.
