Reading Football Club continue to invest in youth and three promising young players have recently joined the Royals ranks.
18-year-old James Holden was going into the second year of his scholarship at Bury but following the League One club’s expulsion from the EFL, Holden has made a move to the Madejski.
He will now finish his scholarship season with the Royals before beginning a one-year professional contract at Reading in July.
Femi Azeez, also 18 years of age, is a winger who last represented Wealdstone FC on a non-contract basis.
Azeez is not currently registered with a club, so we have been able to offer the young winger a one-year professional contract which will run until June 2020. He will join our Under-23 ranks.
Meanwhile, forward Augustus McGiff has also agreed to join the Royals from New York City’s Development Academy, where he scored 19 goals in 20 games at under-16/17 level last season.
The 17-year-old is set to join the club as a second year scholar and represent our Under-18s and will formally join the Hogwood Park ranks following the receipt of international clearance and the normal ratification processes from the relevant football authorities.
We would like to welcome James, Femi and Augustus to Reading Football Club and look forward to charting their progress in blue and white hoops.
