José on trusting the squad and role of home support against Fulham

Reading vs Fulham
Sky Bet Championship
Tuesday 1st October 2019
Madejski Stadium
8pm kick-off

Recent history between the Royals and Fulham suggests that Tuesday night's game at Madejski Stadium will be hotly-contested, with the Cottagers hoping to build another promotion-earning campaign to get straight back to the top flight, following relegation at the first attempt last season.

Scott Parker, now in permanent charge of the Whites after his caretaker spell with the club, has led Fulham to 15 points from their first nine games.

His side ended a run of three consecutive draws with a dominant win over Wigan Athletic on Friday night, in a game where Fulham restricted their visitors to the extent that they did not register a single shot on target.

As for José Gomes and his Reading squad, they will have taken heart from a battling comeback against Swansea City on Saturday afternoon that saw them take a well-earned point, thanks to a last-minute rifled equaliser from Andy Yiadom.

Swansea had taken the lead in the early knockings of the game through a Borja Baston header, but the Royals kept up their onslaught on the Swans' goal throughout the second half and it paid off with a deserved point at the end of it.

But the relentless nature of the Championship ensures the next chance for points is always around the corner, with the Royals and Fulham set to do battle once more and renew their intense on-pitch battles at Madejski Stadium on Tuesday night.

It's all set to be a blockbuster encounter between two sides that know each other well, so make sure you're in RG2 on the night to show your support for the boys in blue and white hoops.
